Surpises from a 2-year-old

We host a bible study every Monday evening at our house with some friends.  Tonight, bible study had recently finished and everyone was playing with Isaac and just sitting around chatting.  Isaac stands up from playing and grabs 2 of our guests hands and then manages to communicate that everyone is to hold hands so we can pray.  He says "God bless Nick." "God bless Joe." Until he goes all the way through everyone here.  Then he says "I love you Jesus. Amen." When we asked about Levi, he grabbed our hands again and says, "God bless I-I (Levi). Amen."

It was a touching moment for everyone here.  Amen!

Time to give up the RV

So we packed up the RV to take a family trip to Horsetooth Reservoir for a weekend camping trip before winter.  We were told that the campsites were first come first serve, so we headed up Friday morning to catch a spot.  When reaching the campgrounds, we see that every site is reserved.  I call the county number we had, and they told us that all the sites are reserved for the weekend.  We decided to drive up the mountain a little more before deciding to stop and see if we can ask someone.  Joe stops the rv and goes to see if there is anyone he can talk to in one of the booths.  I wait in the rv with the two boys when I look up and see the rv is moving.  Yes, the rv is moving and no one driving this big honker!  I jump up with Levi, run to the front of the rv, reach my foot into the drivers side *cockpit* and slam on the brakes.  I sit there with my body trembling with fear and adrenaline.  Joe casually enters the camper and looks at me quizzically.  I explain to him what happened and we figured that maybe we didn't put the brake on.  So, we continue to head back down the mountain when Joe calmly informs me that we have no brakes.  That's right...no brakes. He doesn't want to continue going down the mountain towards the hairpin curve that we must take.  So, we coast until he thinks he can turn into a parking lot and stop. We do manage to come to a complete stop and put blocks under the tires to prevent the rv from rolling.  We called Good Sam as we purchased the roadside assistance with RV protection.  Now, if you remember last year we broke down on our way home for our cross country trip just 10 minutes from home.  We had called AAA and a tow truck was there within 20 minutes to tow our RV back home.  This year it took 24 hours to get a tow truck.  Our friend came and picked up me and the boys that Friday night.  He drove one and a half hours back home dropped us off and went back up to get Joe and the dogs.  Then Joe went back up the next day on Saturday to finally get it towed to a service station.  Then we all went back up Sunday to pick up the rv which now had new brake pads and brake lines.  We are all safe, Isaac didn't know any different as we spent hours playing around the trails, because we happened to safely come to a stop in the parking lot of a trail head. Plus, we had all the food and drinks we needed to last us that day in the rv.

What I learned...
1. AAA is better than Good Sam based on our experiences in the last year.
2. We don't have good luck with motorhomes, and I might just have to suck it up and get a van to travel with kids and dogs.
3.  Most importantly, God is good and protected my family when we needed Him!

Will and Tammy's Wedding

We received some pictures from Will and Tammy's wedding.  Joe was a groomsman and Isaac was a ring bearer.  It was a such a beautiful wedding in an absolutely amazing location!  Definitely a memorable day for a couple in love!

Isaac puts his hand in his mouth when he's shy.  You'll notice he had it in his mouth quite often!  Daddy even had to carry him down the path as he was too shy to go with the other kids. We were so fortunately to be able to be there for this day!  Thank you to my amazing husband who drove a house on wheels, cross country, with 2 kids and 2 dogs, for 2 weeks, to be able to be there for his family on this weekend!

Ga Ga Shaw's Visit

Ga Ga Shaw came to spend a long weekend with the boys and they had so much fun!  Isaac was so excited to "cook" with grandma and insisted that they cook something with onions and potatoes.  So, that's what they did.  One evening they made "Rudy Burgers." He later got an apron from Ga Ga Shaw that he loves to wear when he helps mom in the kitchen.

We also celebrated Isaac's 2nd birthday while she was here.  He was so excited for all of his wonderful birthday gifts and enjoyed getting "Happy Birthday" sung to him. He even enjoyed blowing out his candles out on his pumpkin muffin.

A little doctor???  This role playing costume may just be used for Halloween too!

Then we went to "A Day Out with Thomas the Train" at the Colorado Railroad Museum.  It was so much fun and Isaac had a blast riding Thomas and playing in the petting zoo.

Levi - 6 months

Levi sprouted his 2 bottom teeth at 5 months and 1 week (a little more than a month earlier than Isaac).  Levi seems to have a lower pain tolerance than his brother but fought through the teething pain. He still doesn't sleep through the night, but I have been letting him cry himself to sleep which he seems to prefer.  He gets antsy and restless and wants to be put down when he is tired.  Once I put him down, he falls asleep within minutes.  But now we are working on trying to get him to sleep through the night.

He still has a very happy personality and wakes up smiling all the time.  He now enjoys eating solids and will try to take your plate or cup right out from under you.  He is close to sitting up on his own but not without support.  Hi will roll and inch crawl his way right out of the room, so I must keep an eye on him at all times.  Levi is definitely gonna be keeping me on my toes, no doubt about it!

He continues to LOVES his brother and Daddy.  Smiles with so much admiration for Daddy and giggles and laughs at his big brother.  He is learning how to annoy Isaac by getting into whatever Isaac is playing with, as he wants to be in with all the action.

Levi was born with his "tongue tied" so, at 6 months we chose to get it snipped in hopes that he won't remember anything about it, and it won't cause any speech issues in the future.  The doctors never even recommended anything be done about it until it was mentioned at his 4 month appointment, so when we went in, the dentist was surprised we waited so long.  If I would have known, I would have done it at birth. He definitely was in pain that day, but by the evening he was fine.  I did end up giving him some Triamenic to help with the pain.  This was the first of any medicine he has received. But it did help him through the early evening.

Favorite foods: Still eats anything. I don't even know if I could pick a favorite.  He will eat all his veggies, but really enjoys fruit, especially berries.  Eats any meat but does seem to like seafood and pork.  Loves to snack and has begun to choose milk over water which is a new trend.

Favorite toys: He likes to play in the sandbox and has been getting better on his Styder balance bike.  He still is enjoying to role play and now has begun to pretend to be doctor.  Still enjoys sticks, balls, trucks, and all the typical "boy" things to do.

Favorite/Common sayings: "All Done,""Up Please," "More Milk Please," "Oh Jeez!"

Favorite shows/movies: "Team Umizoomi" still ranks top of the list. Other shows he previously liked slowly disappear off his interest list. He does enjoy "Cailou" if that happens to be on.  Haven't been watching too much TV, however he did like "Monsters, Inc." while on vacation.

Favorite books: Any of his books with tractors and trucks.  Ga Ga Rose got him

Richard Scarry's "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" which he loves! 

Has begun to be interested in stories more than just the word/object books.  He has always enjoyed looking in depth at pages and talking about everything that he sees.  Now he seems to beginning to listen to the story as he looks at the pages. One in particular is "Farley goes to the Doctor."

Isaac seems to be becoming more social.  He enjoys other children and loves to walk up to other kids at the park.  He doesn't know how to ask and play, but kids seem to have their own unique way of becoming friends.  He really enjoys playing with Eli and Emma, our neighbors behind the park and talks about them a lot.  He prays for Ga Ga, Pop Pop, and Ga Ga Shaw during every prayer which is cute that he wants to specifically include them in meal and bedtime prayers.  He's often very serious but he has a killer smile that lights up the room.
