The coyotes out back have been crazy lately.  The are howling at night.  Saw 4 of them at dusk the other night.  And here's a video I took one morning after I heard the dogs barking like crazy.

I LOVE my boys!  I LOVE being a mom.  My boys took me to the nursery to get my flowers for the summer.  I love this tradition that started last year.  I enjoy having potted plants and flowers and now having Isaac old enough to help was extra special (and messy). It may sound silly that I enjoyed washing windows and planting flowers for Mother's Day, but I loved it.  Joe washed, vacuumed, and cleaned my car.  I didn't cook supper and ordered pickup at my favorite BBQ place.  Of course with Joe's help, I had such a wonderful day.

Isaac (31 months),  Levi (13 months), Mommy (6 months pregnant)

Levi continues to learn how to communicate more even though there are still no words.  He's making many sounds and can nod "yes," sign "please," shakes finger for "no," waves "hi" and "bye," blows kisses, gives hugs and kisses, and points at what he wants and where he wants to go.

Currently teething...2nd molar and another bottom tooth.

He is quite the helper!  He LOVES to help do chores such as unload the dishes, feed dogs, put milk jugs in milk box outside and pick up toys.  He knows (and likes) routine.

Time outs have begun as he enjoys not to listen when he knows I want him to come to me, and he hits, pouts and screams when he doesn't get his way.

He likes to watch Isaac and is beginning to copy him doing the good and the bad!

Pouting and attitudes are common right now

Loves big brother Isaac

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

This has been a great month for Isaac!  He has decided that he was ready for undies and has done a great job at being potty trained.  I insist he uses a diaper for nap and bedtime.  The need was confirmed when I forgot to put a diaper on during nap time, and he woke himself up cause he was wet!

He also has shown a new maturity in being a "big brother."  He has significantly reduced his desire to rip everything Levi has in his hands and to push him each time he walks by his little brother.  He seems to enjoy playing with Levi and has been trying to get Levi to follow him and do things with him. Its not that we still don't have our episodes, but overall he continuing to become a great big brother.

Isaac seems to understand that he's going to have another little brother and he says he's excited to give him hugs and kisses.  When asked about family, he says has 2 brothers.

He has been interested in boys vs. girls.  He goes through family members and friends and tells us who is a boy and who is a girl.

It has amazed me over the last month how much he has taken to memorizing his Bible verses and understanding what they mean.  When he is struggling at doing something, he will sometimes recite part of Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Or he will get so upset that he will elaborate..." I can't." in reference to the verse. He also has been distinguishing between what is a "good deed" and a "bad deed." During the week he practiced Proverbs 20:11, "Even a child is know by his deeds."

He has also shown in interest in memorizing sight words and loves to find them in the "real world." At this point he knows the words, can, and, see, is, for and the. He likes to try to do all of his numbers on his fingers and really likes finding the number 4 in everything, which was out number of the week a few weeks ago!

Seems like such a "kid" in this picture

Mmmm, delicious!

Working on tracing and writing letters, one of the harder concepts for him to conquer.

Our Bible verse this week has been, "Even a child is known by his deeds." Proverbs 20:11

Isaac and I had been talking about was a "good deed" is.  He had been walking around saying things like "help mommy, good deed" and "push Levi, not a good deed."  The next morning, we were eating breakfast, and I told him we were taking Levi to get a shot at the doctors (which he remembers they are rewarded with a lollipop).  Isaac says to me, "Mommy give Isaac a lolipop, that would be a good deed."  Yes little dude....in your world, I bet that would be a good deed.

We have progressed!!!!  Last week I knew I would run out of diapers for Isaac before my next shipment from Amazon was delivered.  So, I told Isaac that we were out of diapers.  I explained that I only had enough for naptime and bedtime.  Combine that with being outside all weekend in beautiful 80 degree weather, being able to pee on the grass outside, and with just physically seeming to be more ready (able to hold it much longer between pottying, able to stand up and pee, able to pull pants up and down on own, etc.) we have had complete success for over a week!

He has had only 3 accidents which was when he was in timeout in his playpen, and I did not get him out in time.  Other than that, he goes whenever he needs to.  There are no rewards, no stickers, no M&Ms...just potty and continue about the day.

He was even successful during our first outing to the grocery store.  We did have to go all the way to the front of the store to the restrooms twice, unload both boys from cart, go to small stall for pregnant Mama and 2 toddler boys, and have Levi screaming bloody murder every time a toilet flushed.  But we were completely accident-free!!!

I know it is a whole new set of issues to come with a diaper-less child in public, and it will not be easy nor fun, but my goal was to not have 3 kids in diapers!!!  I feel confident enough in the last week of success that I may have accomplished my goal!
