Fall Days & Snow Days

October is almost over and we had some great Colorado weather. Here are some pictures of the Broncos vs. Cowboys game. Also, since October was breast cancer awareness month, they did a half-time show in honor of ones with and affected by breast cancer. Then they let go of hundreds of pink balloons. Pink ribbons definately have a new meaning as my sister-in-law is currently fighting her own battle with breast cancer.

Joe surprised me one morning and took me to the pumpkin patch. This has been an annual tradition since we met.  Again, the weather was amazing! Pumpkins,carmel apples, gords, and squash...we definately did not leave empty handed.

And now I sit at home instead of in my classroom today as today is the first major snowfall in Colorado this year, and it's a big enough storm for them to close all schools! Woohoo! Balin got to play in snow for the first time today. He loves digging his nose into the snow and eating it!

Keeping the "Labor" in Labor Day

We are back into the swing of work and school.  But we sure enjoyed our 3-day weekend.  Lots of housework and yardwork done (see pictures below), a BBQ with Colorado friends, and some relaxation.  I can't believe that a month has gone by already since the wedding.  I have come to the conclusion that Kodah is holding a grudge against me for going back to work.  The first week back he ate one of my Chaco sandals, and then yesterday it was the remote control and a decorative pillow.  So...mama went to the store to buy him lots of rawhides today.

Labor Day Weekend - 2009

After all the rock was moved, the backyard is leveled out, fertilized, and seeded. 

We are hoping to get grass before the start of winter.

We had such a memorable wedding weekend and really feel blessed for everyone to make such long trips and sacrifices to be there for us on our wedding day. We had so much fun and were really lucky to have great weather to accompany our great family and friends!

Flying into DIA?

If you are flying into Denver International Airport and are heading straight to Poudre Canyon, you may want to look into using the toll road. It will save you some time and cut across to Interstate I-25 North. Depending on rental car companies you will want to look up Toll information from PENA BLVD. (Airport) to INTERSTATE I-25 North (leads to Ft. Collins). When I looked it up before it was about $5.00 one way, and you don't need cash. But since you will have rental cars, you need to follow the correct steps.

Then continue the previous directions from I-25...

• Come North or South on I-25 until you reach Exit 269B (Hwy 14 and/or the Mulberry street exit to Fort Collins).
• Head West 4.5 miles until you come to Hwy 287 (College avenue).
• Turn right (North) follow Hwy 287 as it curves West and then back North go 8.5 miles until you come to the turn off for Hwy 14 West (Poudre Canyon Road).
• There will be a Conoco gas station locally known as Ted's Place. Turn west at Ted's and head into the mountains.
• Canyonside Campground is about 40 miles up the canyon on the right (directly across from Archer's Poudre River Resort on the left).

Grocery Stores

Addresses for grocery stores after you enter Ft. Collins. I think these should work, and they are after you get off of I-25 heading west into Ft. Collins.

Shaw/Fuller Wedding Update:

This past week we were notified via email that our wedding location at Indian Meadows has been immediately and permanently closed down. We have spent the last few days trying to find a new location for our wedding ceremony and rearrange our lodging accommodations for our family and friends. We are now in need of renting many necessities that our previous location had on site for us, such as tables, chairs, and a tent. Once we have all the major details figured out, we will email the final information.

The wedding ceremony will take place at Canyonside Campground in Bellvue, CO on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Unless there are conflicts with the rental equipment, we are still planning on the ceremony to be at 11:00 am.
