Our trip this year included a 2 week roadtrip driving an RV to North Carolina and back. We had full intentions to continue on to Maryland/West Virginia and then back home, but I think the reality of how "non-vacation-like" it was driving cross county with a teething infant and toddler and a sick dog set in once arriving in NC. So, we decided to stay put and enjoy our stay with Joe's immediate family a few extra days and then make the drive back home. We sure missed not seeing Joe's Grandma Sweeney though!
We began the trip leaving on Sunday evening (rather than our original plan of Tuesday morning) hoping that Isaac would enjoy finally getting into the "big truck" and then both boys would sleep until we stopped to sleep at rest area. Mistake #1. It was an unnecessary evening of sleep in the RV rather than our own beds. We were all just eager to get on the road and start our vacation. If we would have left earlier in the evening rather than 8:00 pm, it may have been worth it.
The next day's drive was fairly good! The boys stayed in the car seats more than I anticipated, Isaac enjoyed some of the new activities I had planned for him, and Levi was easily entertained with simple things. I didn't even need to to turn on the TV/DVD! Things were good! We arrived at a KOA outside Kansas City and Isaac ran wild! Enjoyed the playground and swimming with Daddy! He'd run and jump into the water, dunking himself like crazy! I had pre made lunch and dinner, so no cooking was necessary. Success #1.
Up early the next day and back on the road. Pretty decent, and I did eventually turned on some DVDs to entertain Isaac for a bit. We arrived to the next KOA in Kentucky with a lakeside campsite and great views. The people were nice and there were lots of things for Isaac do. They had a big jumpy pad, full size kiddie pool, fishing, bikes, and mini golf all on a lake. Isaac had reached his limits, began not listening, and just needed to run free. We decided to stay an extra day here to let Isaac just have some fun and give Joe a break from driving. Then arrived at Ga Ga and Pop Pops on Thursday evening. So a total of 4 days and 4 nights! Uff da!

You have the best kid activity ideas, Corrina! We always resort to movies for any road trip over an two hours long. You've inspired me to try to going without (or, more realistically, to use movies less :-) Glad y'all had fun!
