I would have never imagined that I would be in my 8 1/2 month of pregnancy during our first anniversary.  Life continues to amaze me, and how so many Blessings and events can seem to happen overnight.   We had a wonderful day enjoying breakfast at out favorite hole-in-the-wall place called "Joe's Cafe."  Then off to Estes Park, enjoying the scenery, lake, and some softball games. Then out for dinner and back home to eat the frozen 1-year Double Chocoloate Zucchini cake.  With the tiniest nibble by both of us (it was absolutely disgusting),  I served up a fresh piece of the cake that I made for us to enjoy.  Marriage is such an amazing journey, and I am so lucky to experience it with such a wonderful and devoted husband!

Joe cut down and dug out the dead Aspen tree that was in the front yard and planted a Greenspire Linden Tree out front on August 1st.  It will be neat to watch it grow along with out first child.  :-)

Greenspire Linden - After
It's there, I promise...he's hidden!
Ok, that one is a little easier to see.

The Aspen trunk that Joe had to dig out.  Not fun!
We were literally "showered" with lots of love and gifts for our new little guy on July 18. Joe's aunt, Blair, organized a web shower where friends and family could go to this website, play games, sign the guestbook, and login to a live video chat to watch the shower my friends put on locally here in CO.  My friends Natalie, Amanda, and Cindy put on a shower at our home with many of my Colorado friends.  It was all very overwhelming and so wonderful to share this time with so many of the special people in my life.  A big "Thank You" to everyone who put this even together and participated in it!!!

Thank you to everyone!  We went from having very little to having lots of wonderful things to start our new adventure!!!  Only 6 1/2 weeks to go!!!

I'll have to remember this one...

Joe and I had a wonderful time in North Carolina.  The baby wasn't so sure about the driving and flying, but ended up doing fairly well through the trip.  We flew into Charlotte, NC and visited Joe's college friend, Ryan.  The next day we took the 3 hour drive to Cullowhee, NC where Joe's family lives.  What a beautiful place with lots of trees and hills.  This was also where Joe went to college, so I got the tour of the college campus and the different places he used to live.

The Smokey Mountians

Next, we were off to Chris and Olivia's wedding, 1 1/2 hours further up the mountians.  It was a wonderful resort on a lake.  It was just a great wedding and lots of fun to be had by all.  Olivia was a beautiful bride and the couple seemed to enjoy themselves throughout the day and into the evening!

This was the view from our hotel room
and the lawn that the wedding
took place.

We spent the 4th of July back in Cullowhee with aunts, uncles, and cousins playing volleyball and lighting fireworks.  Rose even gave me a few cooking lessons on how to cook kale and fried okra! :-)  Ate lots of BBQ and loved every bit of it!

We even had a spontaneous adventure to the "lake house" where Joe's dad, Bubby, has done amazing work.  We were fortunate to have been able to take out the pontoon by ourselves and stroll slowly on the lake looking at the hills of North Carolina.  We swam for hours in the warm, warm lake, and we had a wonderful time just enjoying each other and God's beautiful creations!

Breathtaking....

So peaceful!

Belly's up!

We drove back to Charlotte and stayed with Ryan again.  Ryan's parents, Jeff and Maureen, were able to make it to our wedding last year, and it was great to see them again.  We had dinner at their home before flying back home.

We missed the dogs tremendously, and I teared up often when thinking of them.  But we both really had a really great vacation and truly enjoyed ourselves.  After getting back to Colorado, we ran into the house to greet Kodah and Balin.  I don't know who was more excited, the dogs or us. But we look forward to when we can bring the baby (and dogs) with us next time when we visit North Carolina.

My mom came to visit last week for a long weekend.  We had a great time going to garage sales, going out to eat, and just hanging out.  We even found a crib for $10 that was in great shape!  Here's a few pics from her visit.  We look forward to her coming out again after the baby is born.

Mom and I worked on getting the Baby's room ready.  Thanks mom for all your hard work and painting! :-)  Lots of my own childhood books already on the shelves ready to be read!!!
